Hot!!!!
Summer has decided to rear it's ugly head here and with the temperature hovering around 40 Celsius it's hard to get motivated to do very much this afternoon. It's the sort of weather that has you up early running around getting your jobs done, trying to keep the water up to the plants and wondering what on earth you are going to find for dinner that won't turn your kitchen into a steam bath. The cats have found cool spots outside to sleep, the rats are inside and the dogs are stretched out snoozing as well. Obviously it is a bit of an understatement to say I really don't like hot weather at all. I am so looking forward to Friday when I head off to the Coast for several weeks for a little R & R.

Family
With all my boys home over the Summer break my work load in the house has increased significantly. It seems that my life was one constant effort to keep the kitchen bench clear and enough clean dishes in the cupboard so I could dish up a meal at night. The last two weeks have seen me curled up in a foetal ball in bed with the flu and in that time they have actually managed to cook meals that include vegetables, to clean up after themselves, use the dishwasher and put a load of washing through the Washing machine. Now I just have to hope that this will continue now that I am on the mend!!!
It's nice that they can manage to look after things and me when I need them to.

A week or so later
Christmas and New Year are over and we can slowly resume our normal life. No New Year's resolutions made because they would inevitably be broken.
Routine is out the window at the moment with the boys at home and so many public holidays. I no longer have the start of the school year to look forward to as Beau has finished. 2011 is going to be a year of change and adjustment I think.
I have been reading the last four books in the Harry Potter series, lent to me by Beau's girlfriend Nat (who is a mad HP fan!!) The weather has been so hot and I've had a Summer cold since just before Christmas so reading is the perfect thing to do apart from napping, dips in the pool, a little cleaning and more naps.As you can see I've had a play with the blog as well. I don't think it will stay pink for too long.
Happy New Year!!!!!!!
