Garage Sale Treasures

I've been over at Lakes Entrance visiting my Mum for a couple of weeks, She had a long list of little jobs for me to do and in between we Op shopped and fitted in a couple of Garage Sales as well. There wasn't too much treasure to be found in the Op Shops but I managed to find this tea trolley in a second hand shop when we went looking for something that Mum needed. The Rat cage fits perfectly on the top of it and eventually I will give it a bit of a paint job. The mustard does nothing for me.

There were only two garage sales while I was over there which was a bit disappointing but I think I did very well out of them. There was one Saturday morning and I picked up these Vintage Utensils for the princely sum of 50cents for the lot.

The second garage sale was on Sunday just around the corner and I found this little mirror,

an embroidered Tablecloth ,a small clothes airer, and a few scarves for my daughter. There was a lot more stuff I would have loved to buy but there is only so much a person can fit in their car!

I did bring one other thing home from the Saturday Garage sale. I was looking at this gorgeous old commode chair , trying to decide if it would fit in the car when I came home. Remember I had that Tea Trolley to fit in as well. The seat lifts up, the pot is still in its place underneath and the chair is in really good condition. Anyway I was umming and arring and the lady running the sale came over and said if I wanted it I could have it .......for FREE!  Instantly there was no more thinking about it, I just thanked her very much and headed out the door with it tucked under my arm.
Lucky for me the Trolley and chair fitted on the back seat...........just.

My Place and Yours-Laundry

Last year at the end of October I did a Laundry make over mainly because of Laundry envy but also cause it just needed it. So this is the photo I took on the 30th of October right after I finished it.
It still looks exactly the same apart from hanging a few more bits and pieces on the ladder
This is the shelf you couldn't see in the photo, where I tend to shove all sorts of bits and pieces
And a bit better look at the narrow shelf above the washing machine. The pottery jugs were made by two of the children when they were at school.
Love this chair with it's little house quilt that Cato has claimed as her bed.  I buy a 12kg box of Laundry detergent once or twice a year and a box fits perfectly in this bucket.
So that's my Laundry, another room in this house full of my stuff and clutter .
For more Laundries why don't you pop on over to visit Deb at Works in Progress. Maybe you will join in with My Place and Yours this week too?

Jam-10 things about me.

JaM this week is all about you and Jody challenges us to see what 10 things you can bring yourself to share with the rest of us!
This has taken some thinking about but I have managed to think of some things that you may not know.

1. I rarely wear shoes unless I go out somewhere. My cracked and crappy feet will attest to that.
2. The only time I use an iron is when I'm sewing-clothes just have to fend for themselves
3. I have been from Corryong to Perth  and back on the back of a motorbike.
4. I love to go fishing.
5. I very rarely wear a dress or skirt. (and when I do there are leggings underneath)
6. I have recently sent my fourth and youngest child out into the world which makes us Empty Nesters
(A term I don't like very much but a state I am thoroughly enjoying!)
7. I would prefer to buy second hand before I buy new.
8. I love watching chick flicks but I read Horror, fantasy or thrillers never romances
9. My house never feels like a home without pets
10. I still don't know what I want to do when I grow up

And like Jody I can never post without a photo

It started raining here at about 1 yesterday afternoon and by 7 this morning we had measured over 140ml of rain. This is my yard, the road out the front is covered in water and the creek out the back is flooded. (It doesn't get anywhere near us though) We measured about 150ml of rain on Thursday so in a few days we have had a LOT of rain. We aren't too badly off compared to a lot of other areas in Victoria and NSW where there are homes being flooded.

As usual Fred has managed to get in a post. He has been paddling in the yard all morning making me even more convinced that he is either not really a cat or just plain stupid!
I hope everyone is staying dry and safe during this unseasonal wet week.

My Place and Yours-Where I Sleep

This week on My Place and Yours Deb asks 'Where do we sleep?' Well this is my nest where I sleep at night and Nanna nap during the day.

When I nap in the day (which I try not to make a habit of !) I usually share the bed with my little dog and usually one of the cats, sometimes both of them. Today is a Nanna nap day cause it is very cool and raining AGAIN and it is just that sort of day.

And at night first one into the bed is Machicho, right in the middle all cosy under the blankets just like the little person she thinks she is.
Why don't you join us here and show us where you sleep?
