Early Autumn Sunday

Our old man looking for a place to lay in the sun.

Hints of yellow in the Golden Ash

Autumn colour appearing here,

and there.

The Buddleias  still attracting all and sundry.

The Snapdragons have been flowering all through Summer

And the roses.

Our little visitor has been making friends.

The nights are getting cooler even if the days are still very warm. Night is coming a little earlier and the morning sun is arriving just a little later. Autumn has arrived.

P.S. I was reminded the other day that I used to play around a little bit with my camera and put the results of that playing on my other blog, A Feast for CrowsLife took me down a different path for a little while and today I decided that I need to get back to doing the things I love to do. There is more of a  Early Autumn Sunday over at A Feast for Crows

Wings

Rarely do you see the wings of a praying mantis. I pulled this one from a spider web yesterday morning and he sat with both wings open, very aggravated and ready to take on the world. By the time I went and found my camera he had closed one wing but lucky for me the other was still open.

Eventually he recovered enough to fly away.

Cockatoos

It has been a really dry Summer this year and although there is nothing in the paddocks we are still a lot better of than a lot of Australia.

I have never seen as many birds looking for something, anything to eat in the paddock next to our house.
Early this morning there were Cockatoos  Some on the ground and others sitting in one of the trees in our yard keeping an eye out.

There are usually huge flocks of Red Rumped parrots out there scavenging around looking for the last of the summer seed. Fred thinks they are a smorgasbord but  he is far too slow and stupid to catch any of the little parrots. As soon as I get anywhere near close enough to get a photo they take off. I really must get a telephoto lens.

I tried to get a little closer but scared them off too, although they didn't go too far away. I'd like to see Fred try to tangle with one of these.
