Cuckoo in the garden

I've heard a different bird in the tree out the side the past week and today I managed to spot it. It is a young Cuckoo being raised by a tiny Wren (I think it is a Wren anyway)

Surrogate mother? Confusing for the wren, or just mothers love however it comes... :)

the cuckoos lay their eggs in another birds nest then when the baby cuckoo hatches it pushes all the other birds eggs out of the nest so it is guaranteed all the attention/food. That poor wrens eggs probably met the same fate :(

I've seen similar sights around here too Jackie.
It's certainly a quick lazy way to make sure your offspring is well fed! lol
It does look like a wren doesn't it? The poor thing must be kept very busy trying to feed a bird twice or more it's size!! x
